Video: Long-term Spurs transfer target returns to training with current club

Real Betis’ Giovanni Lo Celso was one of Tottenham’s first transfer targets this summer. As early as June there were numerous reports that suggested Lo Celso would complete a summer switch to North London (The Mirror).

Real Betis’ recent signing of Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir was rumoured to all be complete the transfer of Lo Celso to Tottenham.

The Sun had recently reported that Fekir’s £22.6 million switch to Betis would see Tottenham’s £45 million bid accepted.

However, more recently, reports in Spain have suggested that Lo Celso has now returned to training with Real Betis (ABC Sevilla) despite also suggesting he already said his goodbye’s before the Copa America in June.

A recent Instagram story from the man himself also included the caption ‘thanks for everything, teacher’

Now, Spanish news outlet, Informa Betis, have suggested that Tottenham will face competition to sign Lo Celso from Italian giants Napoli. Only time will tell as to where Lo Celso’s future lies.

Spurs Web Opinion

With just 9 days left of the summer transfer window, we need to act quickly if they are to get this deal over the line.

If Lo Celso did not become a Spurs player in this window, I’d be very disappointed. It looks as though Levy has played hardball once again and we may well pay for that. If Ndombele remains our only signing this summer (with Clarke heading back out on loan to Leeds) it would be a poor window in my opinion. Midfield depth is what we need, desperately.
