Lo Celso speaks about Tottenham Hotspur transfer rumours

Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks with Sky Sports News even reporting that the player wants to play under his compatriot Mauricio Pochettino.

Lo Celso’s stunning season for Betis has seen the the 23-year-old called up to the Argentina squad for the Copa America tournament which begins on Friday.

The former PSG player was asked by Radio La Red, a station in his homeland about the possible move to North London to which Lo Celso said: “There is no news of Tottenham. I am one-hundred percent focused on what the national team is, there is nothing new about Tottenham. We know how strong the English league, but I am not focused on that.”

The Spanish club only recently made his loan from Paris Saint-Germain permanent and the player insists his sole focus at the moment is on his country.

Spurs are reported to have already made a bid of £53m, with Betis looking to hold out closer to the £88m release clause in his contract (BBC).

Opinion

Tottenham’s pursuit of Lo Celso is likely to have gone up a notch after Christian Eriksen’s admission that his future could lie away from North London was made public today.

The Betis man would certainly help to fill the void left by Eriksen.
