Lo Celso’s impressive stats against Norwich prove why he was Man of the Match

Giovani Lo Celso has been steadily progressing week after week under Jose Mourinho, but fans waiting for the Argentine to take a game by the scruff of its neck were in for a treat last night.

Spurs faced Norwich City at home in the Premier League, with the Spurs on-loan summer recruit initially lining up in a deeper central midfield role with Winks. He later moved to right-wing when Christian Eriksen came on.

During the 90 minutes, Lo Celso (Squawka):

  • Had 83 total touches, the most out of any player on the pitch.
  • Had 55 attempted passes, the most out of any player on the pitch.
  • Had 46 completed passes, the most out of any player on the pitch.
  • Had 43 passes in the opposition half, the most out of any player on the pitch.
  • Had 24 contested duels, the most out of any player on the pitch.
  • Had nine ball recoveries, the most out of any player on the pitch.
  • Created four chances, the most out of any player on the pitch.
  • Made four tackles, the most out of any player on the pitch.
  • Made two clearances
  • Made two crosses

What an all-round creative and defensive performance from the Argentine. Sheer skill and determination. It is no wonder that he was voted Spurs fans’ man of the match.

Opinion

Fans have had to show patience with the playmaker after his involvement was cut short earlier in the season after picking up an injury whilst on international duty, he is starting to look as if he is nearing full match fitness and can certainly help to fill Christian Eriksen’s inevitable exit.
