Loads of Spurs fans have the same reply to Tottenham’s throwback to 2012

Much is always said about Tottenham Hotspur and Belgium defender, Toby Alderweireld, but his fellow central defensive partner, Jan Vertonghen, is severely underrated.

In my opinion, Vertonghen is one of the very best left-footed left-sided centre-backs in world football, and is arguably even more consistent than Alderweireld.

He has been a rock at the back for Tottenham for the last seven years now in North London, and is set to enjoy at least one more season with the Lilywhites.

The 32-year-old had his contract extended by an extra year in 2018, taking him up until the summer of 2020 (Tottenham).

However, some Spurs fans want to see him rewarded with a new deal before he leaves on a free.

Spurs tweeted out a throwback to 2012 yesterday, as it was seven years to the day that they signed Vertonghen from Ajax.

Unsurprisingly, the comments section was full of fans begging for Levy to get a new deal on the table.
