The young signing would also keep with the youthful project that Pochettino and Levy are attempting to build in Tottenham, with 18-year-old Jack Clarke and 22-year-old Tanguy Ndombele already signing this summer.

Football London claim that Arsenal and Spurs have both been linked with the playmaker is recent transfer windows, with Havertz clocking up 105 appearances already for Leverkusen.

The report also claims that Havertz can play in a number of positions, including on the wing, behind the striker, central midfield, and a deep role.

Havertz is a previous winner of the Fritz Walter Award, given to the most promising young player in Germany.

Bayern Munich were expected to sign him, according to Football London, but the player seems very open on his future.

He said (Bild): “I really don’t know yet whether Bayern will be the next or right step for me. I don’t know whether going abroad would come into question. I’m not thinking too much about it right now.

“I am calm. That’s the transfer market and I can’t do anything about it.

“Of course, you’d have a target on your head when you move for such fee but personally I wouldn’t care.”
