Van de Ven has hardly put a foot wrong since arriving from Wolfsburg last summer and has shown maturity well beyond his age.

The 23-year-old has formed a formidable partnership at the back with Cristian Romero and looks set to be an indispensable part of the Spurs backline for many years to come.

van de Ven had impressive first season at Tottenham

The Dutchman was voted the club’s Player of the Season despite missing nearly three months of football due to injury and he has already built a reputation as one of the best centre-backs across the Premier League.

There is undoubtedly a lot more to come from van de Ven, who will now be linking up with the Netherlands squad ahead of the Euros.

Micky van de Ven is in awe of the Tottenham fans

The defender admitted that his first season in English football has been an extremely memorable one and thanked Spurs fans for their support throughout the campaign.

Reflecting on his first year at the club, van de Ven told the club’s official website: “It’s been an unbelievable season. I’ve really enjoyed it.

“I enjoyed the Premier League, playing for our fans every game, they support us everywhere. Look at Sheffield United, Sheffield is far, it was last game of the season and they are there. We all really appreciate that.

“For myself, it’s been an unbelievable season. I’m really happy to play, really happy to be here and hopefully, many more good things to come. I hope I can build from this and as a team, we can build from this also.”

Van de ven made 29 appearances for Tottenham across all competitions last season, scoring three goals (transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no limit to how good van de Ven can become, with the 23-year-old seemingly on course to become the best in the world in his position.

Now that he is up to speed with the Premier League and Ange Postecolgou‘s system, I expect him to be even better next season.

Hopefully, he can avoid any repeat of any hamstring issues next season and continue to forge an impressive partnership with Cristian Romero at the back.
