“Looks like he’s going to leave” – Manager makes transfer admission about Spurs-linked star

Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel has indicated that there could yet be further developments on the future of rumoured Tottenham target Thiago Silva, even though he looks set to leave the club as things stand.

PSG sporting director Leonardo hinted last month that the long-serving centre-back was set to leave Paris this summer after eight seasons at the club, with his contract running out after the end of the Champions League campaign (Le Journal du Dimanche).

Tottenham were said to be interested in snapping up the centre-back, with reports indicating that Jose Mourinho is an admirer of Silva (The Sun).

However, Arsenal have also been heavily linked with a move for the 35-year-old, with Le10Sport (via talkSPORT) claiming that the Gunners have already held discussions with the PSG defender over a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Silva is thought to be keen on a switch to the Premier League as he looks to keep his place in the Brazil squad for the 2022 World Cup (Goal Brazil).

However, Tuchel has now hinted that a final decision is yet to be made on Silva’s future.

He told beIN Sports: “He’s (Silva) our player, he’s our captain, and we need to talk about (his future) after the Champions League.

“It looks like he’s going to leave, but in football, you never know.”

The only possible reason Silva could be seen as an attractive option by Jose is due to the experience and winning mentality he will bring with him. Apart from that factor, it would make very little sense for Spurs to refuse Vertonghen the two-year extension that he wants, to then turn around and sign a 35-year-old Thiago Silva, who is presumably on much higher wages.
