Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to social media to share their reaction to the team selection for this afternoon’s Premier League curtain-raiser against Manchester City.

Tottenham won this exact fixture 2-0 under José Mourinho last season, which saw the North Londoners at the top of the Premier League table which led to Pep Guardiola claiming that Spurs were contenders for the title (Goal), however, the wheels soon fell off in dramatic fashion with the club having finished in seventh place in the table.

Spurs lost 1-0 against Everton in their opening league match last season, last losing such matches in consecutive seasons in 2011-12 (0-3 vs Manchester United) and 2012-13 (1-2 vs Newcastle United).

The big news coming out of the team announcement is the absence of Harry Kane, with Nuno instead opting with the same team that beat Arsenal in the pre-season friendly last weekend.

Here is what some of the North London faithful had to say about Nuno Espirito Santo’s first selection of his side in a competitive fixture since taking charge.
