“Lost the game before kick-off” – Some Spurs fans react to Premier League announcement ahead of Man City match

A number of Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to voice their displeasure after Mike Dean was appointed to officiate Sunday’s Premier League clash against Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs go into the game six points off Chelsea in fourth spot while City come into the game under pressure to win to have any faint hope of somehow catching runaway leaders Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola’s side failed to beat Tottenham in the reverse fixture earlier in the season when the North Londoners levelled through Lucas Moura in the second half to come away with a 2-2 draw.

However, some Spurs will be dreading the fact that Mike Dean will be in charge of the match. Dean has officiated in Tottenham games twice so far this season and Spurs were beaten both times, by Newcastle and Southampton (thisisfutbol).

The 51-year-old has been in the centre of some controversial incidents in Tottenham games in the past few years including Mauricio Pochettino’s infamous outburst after the draw at Burnley last season (Telegraph).

Let’s hope the game passes without too many controversial calls and we don’t need to take about Dean or VAR calls atter the match. We have so far been poor against the big sides since Mourinho has come in. It will present a good opportunity for the team to put out a marker with a win.
