‘Love him’ – Pundit drops ‘absolutely incredible’ Destiny Udogie stat

Former Aston Villa defender Stephen Warnock has admitted that he loves the way Tottenham Hotspur’s full-backs operate in Ange Postecoglou’s team.

Warnock was reflecting on watching his former side suffer a 4-0 defeat at home to Tottenham in what could prove to be a crucial result in the race for Champions League football.

Villa went into the fixture knowing that a victory would put them eight points clear of the North Londoners but failed to live up to the hype of being a difficult team to face at home.

Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie were once again tasked to play the inverted full-back role and caused Unai Emery’s side plenty of problems.

Destiny Udogie has impressed for Tottenham this season

Warnock admitted that he has been impressed especially with Udogie’s impact and revealed a stat in which he claims the Italian has the most dribbles in midfield of any player such is how advanced his role is within the Tottenham team.

Warnock said on NBC Sports‘ The 2 Ronnies show: “Udogie has had the most dribbles in midfield this season of any player. It’s incredible, absolutely incredible.

“He’s got so much power running with the ball, he’s arguably one of the best dribblers with the ball because of the way he glides past players and pushes it and he’s got that strong right arm to push people off. I love him, absolutely love him.”

Ange Postecoglou’s use of inverted wingers has taken the Premier League by storm. Porro and Udogie are perfect for the role given their attack-minded nature and also have the pace to be able to track back and help with their defensive duties.
