‘Loved being back’ – Dele Alli reacts to his first PL appearance under Conte

Dele Alli has admitted that he relished the opportunity to be involved in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool.

Alli was handed his first Premier League start under Conte on Sunday, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg not part of the squad and Oliver Skipp starting on the bench.

The Tottenham head coach switched formations from a 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2, with Alli and Tanguy Ndombele starting either side of Harry Winks in midfield.

Alli looked extremely lively in the 80 minutes he got under his belt before making way for Lucas Moura.

The England international worked his socks off out of possession and made several of his trademark runs in behind the Liverpool backline.

The 24-year-old would have been disappointed not to get on the scoresheet after seeing Alison pull off a world-class save to deny him in the first half.

Alli took to social media after the game to admit that Spurs have a lot to build on from the performance against the Reds.

Dele demonstrated yesterday that he has attributes that make him an asset for the side when playing in the right system.

The 25-year-old displayed tremendous energy to keep making runs off the ball while also covering back when Tottenham lost possession.

He now needs to build on this performance if he is to save his Spurs career and convince Conte that he deserves to be part of his plans.
