Some Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that their club have signed Wolverhampton Wanderers right-back, Matt Doherty.

Tottenham officially announced the deal today, revealing that Doherty had signed a deal with the Lilywhites that will keep him at the club until 2024.

This follows another successful season with Wolves, during which the Irish full-back stood out as one of the most consistent right-backs in the Premier League.

Doherty becomes Tottenham’s third senior signing of the 2020 summer window, following the acquisitions of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart. However, the club did also sign teenager Alfie Devine from Wigan Athletic.

Miguel Delaney from the Independent reported earlier this week that Spurs looked set to pay just £12m in initial fees for Doherty, although add-ons could make up an extra £4m.

Of course, Tottenham have already sold one right-back in Kyle Walker-Peters this summer and it is rumoured that Serge Aurier could suffer a similar fate.

Let’s take a look at how some Spurs fans reacted to the Doherty news:
