Lucas Bergvall price tag: Tottenham demanded £57m after breakthrough season

Tottenham Hotspur have made their stance clear on Lucas Bergvall’s future as clubs from across the Premier League circle over the youngster.

Spurs are struggling in the Premier League for a second season in a row, and naturally, such sustained struggles may potentially tempt the club’s best players to seek moves elsewhere.

That may happen with Bergvall, who has reportedly been the subject of enquiries from both Chelsea and Aston Villa.

A couple of days ago, it was reported that Liverpool have also joined the race for the 20-year-old Spurs man ahead of the summer.

Tottenham have no plans to sell Lucas Bergvall

Fotboll Direkt point out that despite the growing interest in the midfielder’s services, the Lilywhites’ answer has been clear to the player’s potential suitors.

Spurs have made it known to clubs that the Sweden international is not for sale, even for ‘huge money’.

The report explains that Tottenham had set a price tag of SEK 700m (£57.3m) for Bergvall last summer after his breakthrough season.

While no bids have been made for the youngster, some clubs are willing to pay that kind of fee this year. However, that is no longer deemed enough by the North London club for the former Djurgarden man, who looks set to stay at the club.

Bergvall may make Spurs return sooner than expected

The attacking midfielder has been out of action for the last month since picking up an injury in Tottenham’s Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund.

While it was initially reported that Bergvall could face three months on the sidelines, it has emerged over recent days that the Spurs man’s recovery is going better than expected.

The midfielder could return to action for Tottenham’s clash against Sunderland on April 11 and could even be involved in Sweden’s World Cup playoff semifinal at the end of March.
