Lucas Moura gives tearful reaction to his goal in final interview for Spurs

Lucas Moura capped his final appearance for Tottenham Hotspur with a brilliant solo goal, and has shared a tearful reaction in his last-ever post-match interview with the club.

The Brazilian brings to an end a five-and-a-half-year stay with Tottenham this summer, with his contract set to expire next month and no renewal being offered by Spurs.

Moura leaves the club with cult hero status, after his stunning hattrick against Ajax in the 2019 Champions League semi-final second leg secured Spurs a place in the final.

Coming on as a substitute at Elland Road today, Moura was able to put the icing on the cake for Spurs by scoring late on and making the score 4-1.

The 30-year-old danced through the Leeds defence before coolly finishing for his first goal of the season (Transfermarkt).

The goal sparked emotional scenes on the pitch, as Moura and his teammates celebrated wildly in front of the Spurs fans.

And now, the player has shared a heartfelt message with those fans on the club’s Twitter account.

He said: “What a way to finish my adventure here. I am very happy. The last game on Saturday [against Brentford] was a bit strange because we lost.

“Now, we have won, I scored, and I was looking for this goal – my first of the season. It has been a tough season.

“Then, I could score and help the team [today], and finish my adventure here in the best way. I will keep every moment in my heart.

“It was great, it was special. Five-and-a-half-years… I don’t have the words to say how thankful I am, how grateful I am… to have lived this adventure here is very special.

“I will miss everyone, everything, every single day. Every single teammate. It was great. Now it’s time to move to the next challenge. But I will keep supporting Spurs forever.”

He may have slipped down the pecking order in the squad, and there’s no doubt this is the right time to move on, but he will never be forgotten by Spurs fans.
