“We are able to win the Premier League” – Spurs star outlines aim

Much was made of Tottenham’s record-breaking signingless summer this year, but many rival fans had forgotten about Spurs’ newest recruit.

Lucas Moura was signed from PSG in January for a bargain £23m, but played only 72 minutes of last season, as Pochettino wanted to bed him into the squad and build fitness before giving him a chance.

Now his chance has come, and arise Lucas Moura.

Straight off the back of a man-of-the-match performance and a beautiful curled effort against Fulham last week, Moura really got people talking last night after he stuck two past David De Gea in the United net.

The Brazilian winger looks a real prospect for Tottenham this season, as they look to make a real title charge.

Moura had this to say on the Spurs result when asked by Sky Sports: “I said before the games that we came here to win and I did very well tonight. I am very happy. I can’t explain what I am feeling right now.”

When asked whether he truly believed that Tottenham could mix it with the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea for the title, Moura barely blinked.

“I came to Spurs to win because I believe in the project. We showed you we can win tonight. We are able to win the Premier League.”

Moura was brought down by Phil Jones just after the half hour mark, as the England international seemed to shove him to the ground. When asked whether he thought a penalty should have been given, Lucas smiled: “I think I should have had a penalty but I am happy for the result.”

It looks as if Tottenham could have a real player on their hands here.
