‘Lucky and grateful’ – Ben Davies reflects on 9 seasons at Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham defender Ben Davies says he is ‘lucky and grateful’ to have signed a contract extension with the club.

The Wales international penned a new deal with Spurs until the summer of 2025, which is set to extend his stay in North London to more than a decade (Tottenham).

The 29-year-old’s fresh terms come off the back of a strong recent campaign in which he emerged as a dependable option in Antonio Conte’s three-man defence, as Spurs secured their return to the Champions League.

Davies admitted he did not have to think twice about extending his contract, adding there is ‘no more exciting time’ to be at the club with six new players arriving this summer (Evening Standard).

And taking to Instagram to reflect on the news, Davies expressed his gratitude to be in it for the long-run ahead of his ninth season at Spurs.

He said: “I’m delighted to extend my stay here at Spurs. Can’t believe I’m about to start my 9th season! I feel very lucky and grateful. Thank you to all the staff and squad.”

Davies improved massively since Conte came into the club and more than deserved to sign a contract extension. He has never been the flashiest player and sometimes that is all that is needed, which will explain why he has been at the club for so long and why Conte trusts him.
