Luka Modric reacts to Tottenham confirming Ivan Perisic’s signing

Luka Modric has taken to social media to express his delight at Tottenham Hotspur’s capture of his international teammate Ivan Perisic.

Perisic has become Tottenham’s first signing of the summer ahead of Antonio Conte’s debut full season in charge of the club.

The Croat has established himself as one of the best left-wing-backs in Europe over the last two years, and his capture on a free transfer represents a great coup for the North London club.

In his first interview with Spurs TV, Perisic admitted that he has always wanted to play in the Premier League and is excited to get started at the club.

The 33-year-old also added that he had been following Tottenham for a long time since his fellow countrymen, Luka Modric, Vedran Corluka, Niko Kranjcar, and Stipe Pletikosa previously played at the club.

Perisic said that he will reach out to the aforementioned players to learn more about the club and the city.

Modric, who won his fifth Champions League title with Real Madrid last week after helping them beat Liverpool in the final, has now commented on Tottenham’s Instagram post confirming Perisic’s capture.

The fact that Perisic mentioned in the interview that he was closely following Tottenham’s final few matches of the season and hoping that they get into the top four, suggests that this signing has been in the pipeline for a long time. Paratici deserves credit for moving so swiftly to snap up the 33-year-old ahead of other suitors.
