Luka Vuskovic reveals why he picked Tottenham over PSG and Man City

Luka Vuskovic has opened up on what his reaction was when Tottenham Hotspur first expressed their interest in him and what the Premier League side said to convince him regarding a move to N17.

There is a lot of excitement at Spurs about Vuskovic, who has outperformed expectations during his loan spell at Westerlo, not only proving solid defensively but also demonstrating his eye for goal.

The centre-back, who signed for Tottenham back in 2023 when he was just 16 years of age, will link up with the Spurs squad for the first time this summer, having now turned 18.

Reports indicate that Tottenham are over the moon with Luka Vuskovic’s progress out on loan, and the teenager has now opened up about the decision to sign for the English club.

Luka Vuskovic reveals how Tottenham convinced him

L’Avenir interviewed Vuskvoic this week, with the outlet revealing that Ange Postecoglou’s men beat both Man City and Paris Saint-Germain to the young defender.

The centre-back admits that he was convinced about the project that Tottenham presented him with when he visited the club back in 2023.

When asked about his switch from Hajduk Split to Spurs, Luka Vuskovic told the outlet: “I heard about Tottenham’s interest just a few weeks before my signing.

“I walked into the locker room after training and got a call from my father: ‘Tottenham want you, everything is in order, all that’s missing is your signature!’ I was obviously surprised, as I had only played eleven games with Hajduk Split.

“I visited the training complex and the stadium. The English management gave me a presentation, highlighting my strengths and also the areas for improvement. I was quickly won over by the project.

“When I heard €11m, I just thought about the fact that I was breaking the record for Hajduk Split’s biggest sale. It was an incredible feeling to financially help this club which means so much to me. As for the rest, I saw this transfer as a reward for my daily work, that’s all.”

Vusckovic is confident he is ready for Tottenham

While the teenager continues to win admirers with his displays in the Belgian top flight, the jump to the Premier League is a huge one for the inexperienced youngster.

However, Luka Vuskovic is confident that he can make that step up and become an important first-team option for Tottenham next season.

When asked if he can stake a claim in the Spurs side next season, the centre-back responded: “I think it’s possible, even though there are already world-class players, like Van de Ven and Romero.

“I want to take it step by step: finish the season well at Westerlo, then earn my place at Tottenham, and then we’ll see what the future holds.”
