Lyon president insists Jose Mourinho has already chosen next destination

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has claimed that the reason former Manchester United and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has turned down the opportunity to take over the managerial reigns at Lyon is because he has already decided on his next club.

The Lyon president reportedly contacted the Portuguese after former Arsenal player Sylvinho was dismissed from his position on Monday evening.

Get French Football quotes Aulas as saying: ‘We had some fairly flattering exchanges over SMS. It was nice for everyone. He did not accept our proposal to meet because he has already chosen another club.”

Mourinho has been out of work since December of last year after being sacked as by Manchester United and has since then done punditry work for the likes of Sky Sports, beIN SPORTS, and Russia Today.

RMC (as relayed by the Mirror) reported a couple of days ago that the 56-year-old was keen to manage in England with the Daily Mail claiming that the Tottenham job is one that he is eyeing.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he is not concerned about being sacked despite the team’s poor form of late (Daily Mail).

If it is true that Mourinho has already decided his next club, then it doesn’t leave him with too many other options in England apart from Spurs given that he is unlikely to return to Manchester United or move to a club like Everton. I don’t believe Levy will be considering sacking Pochettino just yet but if team don’t turn their form around soon, then the Spurs chairman might be forced to make a change.
