‘Machine’ – Chelsea star makes Conor Gallagher claim amid strong links with Tottenham

Chelsea star Moises Caicedo has lavished praise on rumoured Tottenham target Conor Gallagher and admitted that he is really looking forward to the big derby showdown on Thursday.

Spurs continue to be named as the frontrunners to land Gallagher, who had just a year left on his contract at Chelsea.

Last week, Football Insider became the latest outlet to name Tottenham as the favourites to land the 24-year-old, explaining that the Lilywhites are ‘well placed’ to beat Newcastle to the player, given the financial situation of both those clubs.

The report added that the England international is now open to the idea of leaving his boyhood club this summer, with no progress being made in talks over a new deal with Chelsea.

Conor Gallagher receives rave review amid Spurs links

Caicedo is certainly a big fan of the rumoured Spurs target, describing his Blues teammates as ‘a machine’ and hailing his defensive work.

The 22-year-old told Chelsea’s official website about his midfield partner: “Conor is like a machine, you know? I like to play alongside Conor and Enzo With Conor, he has different characteristics.

“Enzo is more an offensive player and Conor is more defensive and he helps me a lot when we need to recover the ball. It’s amazing to play with both of them.”

The Ecuadorian also admitted that he and his teammates are keen to get one over their local rivals when Tottenham visit Stamford Bridge on Thursday.

Caicedo said about the London Derby: “It’s a massive game. I hope I am going to play and it would be amazing to play against them and show our football. Win that game and it would be amazing for us.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The main reason Ange is so keen on signing Gallagher is due to the Chelsea star’s engine and athleticism.

Given Tottenham’s high-risk approach and tendency to commit bodies forward, we need effective counter-pressers who can quickly win possession back when we lose it.

Gallagher is one of the players who fits that profile, with the Chelsea star not being too dissimilar to Pape Sarr.
