‘Mad skills’ – Journalist has heard people compare Spurs academy starlet to Adel Taarabt

The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare has raved about the skill that Mikey Moore possesses, likening the Tottenham academy starlet to former Spurs midfielder Adel Taarabt.

The next few years seem like they could be the golden years for the Tottenham academy, with the club now boasting of a number of extremely talented players, who are knocking on the door of the first-team.

While there has been a lot said and written about the Under-21 stars such as Jamie Donley, Will Lankshear and Alfie Devine, the most exciting talent at Hotspur Way is arguably in the age group below.

16-year-old Moore is making waves in the Under-18s Premier League, with the versatile attacker having scored 12 goals and registered seven assists in just 10 games so far this campaign (Transfermarkt).

Speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast earlier this month, Alasdair Gold described the teenager as an ‘incredible talent’ and revealed that the likes of Manchester City unsuccessfully tried to poach him from Spurs last summer.

Could Tottenham have the next Adel Taarabt?

Eccelshare has now waxed lyrical about the winger, revealing that he pulls off some unbelievable tricks, similar to what Taarabt used to do.

The journalist said on The View From The Lane Podcast: “Another one is Mikey Moore, very skilful, someone was saying to me that he’s a bit like Taarabt in some ways, the good stuff, the ability he has in training to do mad skills and things like that. An exciting player to keep an eye on as well Mikey.”

Taarabt’s career should serve as a cautionary tale to Moore and other young starlets in the Tottenham academy. The Moroccan’s career trajectory is evidence that talent alone is not enough to have success at the highest level, with the right attitude being just as crucial.
