Some Spurs fans on social media have expressed their frustration after it emerged that Ryan Sessegnon had pulled out of the England Under-21 squad after picking up an injury.
After struggling to get a run of matches under his belt in his first season at Tottenham, Sessegnon showed glimpses of quality on loan at Hoffenheim last time out, finishing the campaign with 2 goals and 3 assists in 23 Bundesliga appearances.
The youngster will be hoping to make a mark at Spurs this season under new head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.
While Sessegnon is yet to get any minutes in the Premier League this season, he has started both of Tottenham’s Europa League play-off legs against Pacos De Ferriera as a left-wing-back in a back five.
However, the youngster seems to have had bad luck with injuries once again as it was revealed on Monday that the former Fulham man had left the Young Lions camp and returned to Spurs after picking up a knock.
The nature of the injury has not been specified but some Tottenham fans on social media are fearing the worst and some questioned whether the money the club spent on Sessegnon in 2019 has been wasted.
Poor old Ryan can’t catch a break at Spurs. Let’s hope it’s minor and he’s back soon

Really starting to fear that injuries will prevent Sess from ever reaching his potential. https://t.co/KIJoPrW8NL

Should’ve just paid the extra 30mil towards Bruno or dybala instead of getting him. https://t.co/zS4iPgkGOh

Spurs Web Opinion
Hopefully, this injury is nothing serious and the youngster has only been sent back to Spurs as a precaution. Sessegnon desperately needs to make a positive impression on Nuno and his coaching staff early doors and the last thing he needs right now is another long-term injury.
