The Sun reported a few days ago that Tottenham Hotspur are keen to loan out Kyle Walker-Peters in January, with Crystal Palace said to be interested in signing him.
Walker-Peters began the season as the club’s starting right back and put in mixed displays for the side. He picked up a hamstring injury in the 1-0 home defeat against Newcastle and has subsequently lost his place in the side.
It has now emerged that the Spurs coaching staff would like the young defender to gain some experience and are are looking to send him on loan to a Premier League club.
Some Spurs fans on social media were bewildered by the report and questioned the logic of loaning him out given Tottenham’s troubles at right back.
With Serge Aurier also linked with a move away from the club (Sport MediaSet), fans were worried loaning out Walker-Peters would leave the team with just Juan Foyth as the only logical option for the position.
Here’s how some Spurs fans on social media reacted to the news:
Better have Atal signed if they decide to let KWP leave. Doesn’t make much sense

My God that would be titanically stupid… KWP isn’t the long-term answer but he’s a warm body in a spot we just about got nobody at

We had no right back against Bayern because Aurier didn’t fancy it.

Spurs Web Opinion
If Spurs are indeed considering loaning Walker-Peters out in January, then unless they bring in another right back, then it is unlikely that they will let Aurier leave. I believe Juan Foyth has the talent to make the position his own before the end of the season. So loaning out Walker-Peters doesn’t seem like a terrible idea considering how little game time he has had over the past few seasons.
