Madrid’s Alderweireld pursuit

Florentino Perez will reportedly move heaven and earth to appease Zinedine Zidane and sign Toby Alderweireld to partner Sergio Ramos in the heart of Real Madrid’s defence next season.

Ramos has been one of the club’s top performers in recent seasons surviving a raft of managerial changes and Real president Florentino Perez is prepared to back his long term employee up with another solid defensive partner for next season.

Spanish news outlet Don Ballon claim Alderweireld is top of Perez’s summer wish list but they do say Tottenham have other ideas.

The article says we are keen to keep Belgium international Alderweireld and are open to the idea offering him a new contract, however talks have not progressed as well as the club would have liked but confidence remains that we will be able to lock Alderweireld into a long term extension.

Don Balon also claim Italian giants Inter Milan are also preparing a substantial offer to sign Alderweireld, however Real hold the cards if Spurs do decide to sell up. The article continues, saying that Perez is well aware that manager Zinedine Zidane wants quality defenders, especially at centre back and will supposedly ‘do everything possible’ to appease the Galactico’s supremo.

So not content with trying to flog Kane, Alderweireld is thrown in to the mix by the genius guys at Don Balon. The longer the Toby situation drags on his selling value decreases and the club are going to have to make s decision soon.
