‘Magnificently model Mourinho’ – Lineker praises Spurs boss after Arsenal win

Gary Lineker has praised the way Tottenham Hotspur approached the North London Derby against Arsenal yesterday, labelling the performance a ‘model Mourinho’ one after the Lilywhites emerged 2-0 winners on Sunday.

While the first half was pretty even in terms of possession and territory, the home side hit Arsenal with two sucker punches through brilliantly worked counter-attacks that ended with Son Heung-min and Harry Kane producing excellent finishes at either end of the half.

Predictably, Tottenham sat deep in the second half and invited Arsenal on to them but for all the possession they had, the away side failed to break down the Spurs defence.

Some pundits questioned the lack of attacking intent that Mourinho’s men showed in the second half, and suggested that the Tottenham stars would not enjoy playing that way (Sky Sports).

However, Lineker certainly was not one of them, as the BBC Match of the Day presenter took to social media to admit that he quite enjoyed his former side’s counter-attacking display:
