Some Spurs fans on social media are on board with Tottenham’s alleged move for Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, insisting that signing the Dane could prove a smart piece of business for the club.
Christensen’s current deal at Stamford Bridge runs out at the end of the season and Chelsea have so far been unable to tie the centre-back down to a new contract.
The Daily Star reported on Sunday that the 25-year-old could leave Chelsea as a free agent in the summer and that Spurs had now joined in the race for his signature.
However, the report added that the North London club faced competition from the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, AC Milan and Barcelona for Christensen.
It was also explained that Thomas Tuchel’s men have not given up hope of tying the player down to a new contract.
Some Spurs fans on social media believe that the Denmark international could prove a good fit for Antonio Conte’s back three.
Could be a decent signing on a free as long as he doesn't want superstar wages.

Under Conte in a back 3, I’d be fine with this. Almost anything else, no https://t.co/iBTNfXKlFK

Mentioned this weeks ago. Makes heaps of sense.
Conte rated him & was the first Chelsea Manager to give him a run in the XI. Great on the ball, can play LCB(under Conte) or as the central CB.
HG a huge plus. He's on 80k p/w. Maybe a 50% raise & a call from Conte https://t.co/S2F5cMdkYw

Spurs Web Opinion
Christensen is certainly a more realistic target for Spurs than Rudiger and I agree with the sentiment of some fans that he could thrive under Conte in a back three.
However, if the Dane does not agree on a new contract at Chelsea, he is likely going to have a lot of offers ahead of the summer. It remains to be seen whether he would be open to swapping Chelsea for their London rivals.
