‘Makes me proud’ – Rumoured Spurs target reacts to transfer speculation

Borussia Monchengladbach star Jonas Hofmann has admitted that he is proud to be linked with the likes of Tottenham.

Hofmann has been a consistent performer for Gladbach over several years and is coming off another solid campaign, managing 6 goals and 11 assists in an injury-hit season.

The central midfielder was first linked with a move to Tottenham last summer and Sport 1 journalist Patrick Berger said last month that the North London club could rekindle their interest in the German international this summer.

Gladbach sporting director, Max Eberl admitted last week that the Bundesliga club will not be able to refuse a big offer for the 28-year-old this summer (Bild via Insidefutbol).

The German international, who is reportedly valued at around €15m (£12.8m), is also said to be of interest to the likes of Chelsea and Atletico Madrid and he has now admitted that he is flattered to learn of such links.

When asked about the speculation surrounding his future, Hofmann star told Sport 1: “That is great recognition. Without sounding arrogant, it makes me proud when your name is associated with such top clubs.”
