Man City beat Spurs to signing teenage sensation

Manchester City have agreed on a deal for Shamrock Rovers’ super-kid Gavin Bazunu beating Spurs to the teenager’s services, according to The Belfast Telegraph.

The reported deal was agreed with a fee of around €400,000 and the 16-year-old is set to sign next summer.

City have reportedly beaten Tottenham Hotspur in landing the youngster after lodging a bid last month.

However, it is believed the bid from the Lilywhites was easily beaten by the Citizens.

A deal for the youngster was wrapped up on the weekend when he and his party visited the Etihad Stadium to watch Manchester City thump Huddersfield Town 6-1.

The goalkeeper was voted SSE Airtricity/SWAI Player of the Month for July after keeping clean sheets in all four of his League of Ireland appearances.

Even at the age of just 16, Bazunu has already featured in Rovers’ Europa League ties against AIK Stockholm in which he conceded once in both clashes.

Not necessarily a big name target but at the age of just 16 certainly one for the future.

Spurs fans, do you think we have missed out or is €400,000 way too much on a 16-year-old kid?
