Man City legend appears to mock Tottenham’s managerial search on social media

Former Manchester City midfielder Rodney Marsh has appeared to have mocked Tottenham Hotspur’s managerial search on social media.

The North Londoners are yet to appoint a replacement for Jose Mourinho, despite having parted company with the Portuguese over 50 days ago.

Marsh reacted to a Tweet from the The Daily Mail which claimed that Paulo Fonseca was originally Tottenham’s sixth choice to take over as head coach.

Fonseca is said to have moved up the shortlist following the involvement of Fabio Paratici, who has been heading up the recruitment process in recent days (Telegraph).

Following Mourinho’s exit, Tottenham have experienced ‘failed moves‘ for a number of candidates including Julian Nagelsmann, Brendan Rodgers, Erik ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte.

The 76-year-old replied to the Tweet by claiming that “six time’s a charm” in reference to where Fonseca was ranked at the start of the process.

The Athletic reported yesterday that Fonseca is closing in on being confirmed as the club’s new manager following advanced talks and an announcement could be made early next week.
