Man City react on social media to Tottenham’s thrashing of Man United

Unsurprisingly, Tottenham Hotspur’s thrashing of Manchester United at Old Trafford yesterday afternoon seems to have gone down very well in the blue half of Manchester, with Manchester City congratulating Spurs on social media following the result.

The game started off in poor fashion for Jose Mourinho’s men after they conceded a penalty within the first minute, which was converted with ease by Bruno Fernandes.

However, the away side took control of proceedings from that point as they responded with two quickfire goals to turn the game around.

The game was effectively over when the Red Devils were reduced to ten men midway into the first half when Anthony Martial was shown a straight red card following an incident with Erik Lamela.

Instead of resting on their laurels, the Lilywhites decided to press home their advantage as they put six past a hapless United.

The last time the Red Devils conceded six at home was against their bitter rivals Manchester City back in 2011, who also hammered them 6-1 after Johnny Evans was sent off for United that afternoon.

After a repeat of the same result nine years on at the hands of Spurs, City decided to rub salt into the wounds of their rivals on Twitter.
