Man City reveal change in Champions League plans due to Spurs’ new stadium

Manchester City will be the second opponent to take on Tottenham at their new stadium and the club’s first Champions League opponents at the venue.

While beating Man City over two legs will be a hard ask for Pochettino’s men, the stadium could give them the edge as a rousing atmosphere is expected at the ground when Man City visit on the 10th of April.

According to a report in Manchester Evening News, the league leaders have changed their plans in order to get accustomed to the venue.

Pep Guardiola’s side usually prefer to train at the City Football Academy the day before an away tie in the Champions League, and would then travel to the game that afternoon and hold their media duties once they arrive.

However, according to the report, City will change their preparations this time and take up the option given by UEFA to train at the stadium the day before the game, in an effort to get their players accustomed to the brand new venue.

Spurs fans will be hoping that the iconic new stadium provides the impetus that Tottenham need to beat their opponents in the first leg, and thus put a dent in Man City’s hopes of doing the quadruple.
