Man City star names Spurs duo among the hardest players he has faced

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has named Tottenham duo Heung-min-Son and James Maddison, as well as former Spurs forward, Harry Kane, among the toughest players he has faced in his career.

Most will not be surprised to see Rodri name Son amongst his list considering City have been one of the South Korean’s favourite opponents during his time at Spurs.

The 31-year-old always seems to save his best for Pep Guardiola’s side, having scored some memorable goals against them, including in both legs of the famous Champions League quarter-final clashes between the two sides back in 2019.

Rodri praise for Son and Maddison

Son was once again one of the stars of the show when Tottenham visited the Etihad Stadium earlier this month, with the Lilywhites captain leading the line impressively and finding the back of the net early in the game as Ange Postecoglou‘s men emerged with a late 3-3 draw.

Maddison did not feature against City since he was out with the ankle injury he sustained against Chelsea, however, the midfielder has seemingly made an impression on Rodri during his Leicester City days.

When asked to name the toughest players he has come up against, the City star said (via Football.London): “I think Bellingham is doing great in Spain. Kane has adapted very well to German football also and in England I would say Maddison and Son as they are doing very good.”

Maddison is quite clearly a player’s player, with all of his fellow professionals speaking extremely highly of the midfielder’s quality. The 27-year-old has taken his game up another notch or two since his summer switch to Tottenham.
