Man City star player expresses his concern ahead of Spurs test

Manchester City star man Kevin De Bruyne has expressed his concern regarding the potential state of the Wembley playing surface ahead of the Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night.

A little over 24 hours earlier, there will be an American Football game held at the national stadium when the Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles meet in the NFL.

De Bruyne who recently returned to action after suffering a serious knee ligament injury seven weeks ago is worried about how the pitch will hold up. The Belgian revealed he has previous experience of playing on a surface following an NFL encounter and it wasn’t a pleasant experience.

City are known for their slick passing of which De Bruyne is at the heart of, while Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be looking to put the Champions League disappointment behind them with a positive result.

“We have played on an NFL pitch before in pre-season and it’s not nice,” De Bruyne told FourFourTwo. “It’s going to be difficult.

“I’m not sure how it’s going to be. We hope it will be okay and we can play like we normally do.

“These games [against the other top teams] are the most important ones. We have to go there and show our intent to stay on top.

“They will try to do the same because they are close [in the table and on points]. It’s a big one.”
