Man United plan shock move for Spurs star – and it isn’t Toby, Eriksen, or Trippier

Tottenham Hotspur have failed to bring in a single new signing in well over a year, with the last addition coming in the form of Lucas Moura back in January 2018.

Spurs will surely dip into the transfer market this time around, but may have to wave goodbye to some players before reinvesting.

Manchester United have been linked with moves for a number of Tottenham first team stars in recent weeks.

United are said to be long-term admirers of Spurs central defender Toby Alderweireld, who enters the final year of his contract next season (Sun).

The Red Devils have also more recently been linked with moves for both playmaker Christian Eriksen (Standard), who also nears the end of his deal, and out-of-form Kieran Trippier (Mirror).

However, there has been yet another development in the Manchester-London links today, as Football Insider report that United are also keen on defensive midfielder Eric Dier.

Spurs Web Opinion:

In my view, Eric Dier started off as a great prospect in North London, but this initial excitement has dwindled for me in recent seasons. Dier has picked up a number of injuries, looks slow and lumbering on the ball, and offers little on the pitch. If Man United came in with a bid in the region of £50m, I would be happy for Tottenham to sell up.
