Man United ready to outbid Tottenham for African teenage talent

Tottenham Hotspur may have an edge in the race for a promising teenage talent, but Manchester United are prepared to spend big to beat them to his signature.

Tottenham Hotspur fans are no strangers to seeing their club sign young players. Just last summer, Archie Gray (18), Wilson Odobert (19), and Lucas Bergvall (18) all joined the Lilywhites.

One could even go as far as to say that these young signings have been among the best performers for Spurs this season.

Gray’s displays have already been recognised, as Gray picked up Young Player of the Year at the London Awards—while Bergvall’s recent form has Spurs fans buzzing, especially amid whispers of a new contract on the table.

Tottenham in talks to sign Soungalo Coulibaly as Manchester United circle

Now, fresh reports from Africa Foot state that Spurs are among the clubs keen on Yeleen Olympique youngster Soungalo Coulibaly.

The 16-year-old is currently representing Mali at the ongoing U17 African Cup of Nations in Morocco. He’s already grabbed a goal in three games, catching the eye of scouts from across Europe.

To describe the attacker, Africa Foot highlighted that he has great technique, blistering speed, and fearless dribbling—qualities that make him a nightmare for defenders and hard to ignore.

Man United prepared to pay significant transfer fee for Coulibaly

However, Spurs aren’t alone in their interest. Fellow Premier League side Manchester United have also been tracking the teenager, with the outlet claiming that a club official has watched all three of his matches in Morocco.

According to the report, discussions are already underway, and United have made initial contact in an attempt to bring Coulibaly into their academy.

However, it remains unclear whether United have reached out to his representatives, Yeleen Olympique, or both.

What’s clear, though, is that they’re ready to offer a “significant sum” to edge ahead in the race, with competition coming from Spurs, Red Bull Salzburg and Sturm Graz.

Of course, even if Tottenham Hotspur or any other club were to strike a deal with Yeleen Olympique, Coulibaly wouldn’t be eligible to make the move to the UK until he turns 18. After that, he’d still need to secure a work permit before joining up with his new side.
