What could make United even likelier to make a move for the Tottenham fan is the comments of the Red Devils’ legendary right-back, Gary Neville, who is seemingly a big fan of Spence.
The pundit has given plenty of praise for the former Middlesbrough man across his World Cup coverage.
Speaking before England’s second group game against Ghana, Neville said (via Football Insider): “I think Spence is someone again who will play a big part in this tournament, whether it’s right-back or left-back, because I think he’s like a leech when he defends.
“He’s very aggressive in his work, and he’s got a great tenacity about him. Spence also went forward very well when he came on (against Croatia) and nearly scored, so I do think there will be some tweaks in the defence.
The former United captain said about the Tottenham man after England’s exit to Argentina on the Peter Crouch Podcast: “Spence is a positive. He has proven he can play at this level and defend one vs one.”
