Manager admits 18-goal striker linked with Spurs will leave this summer

Tottenham Hotspur mayhave received a major boost in their rumoured chase of Victor Osimhen after Lille manager Christophe Galtier admitted that the striker will be sold this summer.

Spurs have reportedly been tracking Osimhen since the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports.

The striker has had an impressive first season in Ligue 1, netting 18 goals in all competitions before the campaign was voided due to the spread of COVID-19 (transfermarkt.com).

The North Londoners reportedly made a £62million offer to sign the striker this summer (Radio Kiss Kiss via Area Napoli).

More recently, reports have indicated that Osimhen could be Napoli bound (Le10Sport), despite the 21-year-old rubbishing suggestions that he was joining the Serie A side earlier this month (Omasports).

Galtier has admitted that he has now known for a while that the prolific centre-forward is on his way out of Stade Pierre Mauroy this summer.

As quoted by The Daily Mail, the Lille boss said: “Regarding Victor and Gabriel, yes, I’ve known for a long time that they’re leaving.

“They’re working hard with us in the meantime. We’re working on the players who are currently here and those likely to replace them.

“Of course, the club is working to replace him [Osimhen].”

Spurs Web Opinion

This is not really a major revelation as multiple reports over the past few months have indicated that Lille are ready to cash in on Osimhen. The only question is where the Nigeria international will end up.

I doubt he would want to move to Spurs knowing that he is not going to be the main man upfront. He will probably want to move to a club where he is guaranteed to be the first choice number nine.
