Manager admits reported Spurs target could leave in the summer

Lille manager Christophe Galtier has admitted that Victor Osimhen could be on his way out of the club in the summer amidst rumoured interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

The 21-year-old striker has made a real impression after moving to Lille last summer having managed to score eighteen goals in all competitions so far this campaign (transfermarkt).

A report in January by French news outlet Jeunes Footeux claimed that Spurs were in pole position ahead of the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea to land the youngster due to Mourinho’s warm relationship with Lille’s sporting director Luis Campos.

However, a move for the striker failed to materialise in January and a report in Le10Sport last month revealed that Real Madrid and Barcelona could enter the race for the Nigerian international in the summer.

Lille owner Gerard Lopez has already admitted that the club may not be able to hold on to the striker beyond the summer (Calcio Mercato) and now Galtier has hinted that he could be the subject of interest from clubs across the continent.

The Lille boss told Afriquesports: “Victor said he wanted to stay here next season. He is a sincere boy, he is happy here. He is well appreciated and adored by the fans.

“Then, if in a few weeks big teams arrive with an interest in him, he will have to listen. That’s the logic of things.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I would prefer Tottenham to sign a young and upcoming striker like Osimhen over an experienced forward like Danny Ings who would expect to be involved every week. Osimhen is more likely to be content playing second fiddle to Kane for a couple of seasons and learning from the England captain.
