Manager admits Spurs-linked midfielder ‘can leave’ this summer

Lyon boss Peter Bosz has admitted that rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Houssem Aouar could leave the club before the transfer window shuts.

Lyon are said to be desperate to cash in on Aouar this summer, with the midfielder, who is into the final year of his contract, thought to be available for as little as £17m, according to some reports from France.

The 23-year-old is reportedly of interest to both Tottenham and Arsenal this summer while some sources have also mooted Manchester United and Liverpool as potential destinations for the midfielder.

It has even been rumoured that Spurs have offered Lyon the chance to re-sign Tanguy Ndombele as a part of a deal to bring Aouar to North London but this information has been disputed by some journalists.

It remains to be seen where the French international will be playing his football next season and Bosz admitted that he cannot be certain of the midfielder’s future until the end of the month.

When asked about Aouar’s future, the Lyon boss told Maxifoot: “He can leave, that’s modern football. Until the last moment, he can leave.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I am surprised that no one has a move for Aouar yet given Lyon’s most modest valuation of the midfielder.

I suspect many clubs (including potentially Spurs) view him as a backup option depending on whether they are able to striker a deal for the other targets.

I would not be surprised if one of the Premier League clubs snap up the Lyon man on a cut-price deal in the final few days of the transfer window.
