Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso has admitted that there is no room for Arkadiusz Milik in his squad, amid rumours that Spurs could try and sign the Polish international.
Milik, who is into the final year of his contract at the San Paolo Stadium, is reportedly one of a few options that Tottenham are said to be looking at as they seek to sign cover for Harry Kane (Football.London).
However, recent reports from Italy indicate that Tottenham consider Napoli’s €35 million (£32.5m) valuation of the 26-year-old to be excessive and that Roma could potentially steal a march on the Lilywhites and snap up the striker (Sky Sport Italia via Football Italia).
Wheather Milik is on his way to North London or not, it does not appear as if he is likely to still be at Naples at the end of the current transfer window.
The striker was left out of Napoli’s squad for their pre-season win over Pescara on Friday and Gattuso admitted after the match that he is not part of his plans.
When asked about the Napoli boss told Football Italia: “If Arek doesn’t find another club, then it won’t be an easy situation for him, because we have already signed another two forwards. There’s no room for him.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Napoli have no choice but to sell Milik this window since his contract is running down. Given they are showing any signs of softening their stance, I suspect this could potentially carry on until the final week of the transfer window.
By the sounds of it, the Polish striker is by no means the only name on our list and so, I would not be surprised if we might move on to other targets if there is progress in negotiations over the next week or so.
