Manager claims he wants to keep reported Spurs target this summer

Slavisa Jokanovic, the recently appointed manager of Sheffield United, has told the club’s official YouTube channel that reported Tottenham target Aaron Ramsdale is ‘one of the best goalkeepers in England.’

Tottenham have a reported interest in Ramsdale this summer. The 23-year-old has suffered back to back relegations with Bournemouth and then Sheffield United, but he is still a player who has impressed. He is currently with England on national duty for Euro 2020.

Spurs have an upcoming problem between the sticks, with Paulo Gazzaniga having left on a free transfer and both Hugo Lloris and Joe Hart heading into the final year of their contracts.

However, Jokanovic was full of praise for his new goalkeeper and stated that he wants to keep the Englishmen for next season.

He said: “I have one of the best keepers in England. So I want one of the best ones to be here with us.

“I always want my best players to be here with me. I haven’t had the chance yet but, when I do, I will sit down with both of them and let them know what my feelings are. I will tell the same as I have just told you.”

Hugo Lloris is now 34-years-old and his contract expires next year. A long-term replacement for the captain is going to be needed at some point.

Ramsdale is a keeper that has a lot of promise but maybe needs a season in the Championship, where he’s not part of one of the worst teams in the league.
