Manager confident Spurs-linked midfielder will stay at club

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl fully expects James Ward-Prowse to remain at the club.

The England international has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Telegraph reported last week that Spurs have joined Aston Villa in adding the player to their list of transfer targets.
The North Londoners have been missing a free-kick specialist since Christian Eriksen left the club over 18 months ago after completing his switch to Inter Milan.
The Saints have already lost two key players in Danny Ings and Jannik Vestergaard this summer to Aston Villa and Leicester City, respectively.
The Southampton boss told Sky Sports when asked about the future of his skipper: “(The interest) is normal! I think Prowsey is a guy who everybody wants to have – but I don’t see the scenario for him not to be with us for the next year.
“I think the squad we see now is the squad we’re going with this season. Maybe one more player is coming in.”

Ward-Prowse would be a brilliant addition to the Spurs side, especially given his goal contributions from free-kicks and possesses leadership qualities which are desperately needed in the middle of the park, aside from his former team-mate Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Southampton would be foolish to lose the 26-year-old, especially given the departure of Ings and could find themselves battling against relegation.
