Manager confident that Spurs loanee has the right character to succeed at club

Tottenham Hotspur youngster George Marsh has been loaned out to League 2 club Leyton Orient for the season.

The midfielder was one of the many youngsters who impressed during Tottenham’s preseason tour. Although the 20-year-old is a defensive midfielder by trait, he can also play at right-back, which was the position he featured in during preseason.

He put in some promising displays against the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich.

The youngster made his senior debut for the Spurs first team in Tottenham’s 7-0 win against Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup in January 2019.

Marsh, who joined the Tottenham Hotspur academy in 2015, has put pen to paper on a new two year deal with the club this summer

Leyton Orient Interim Head Coach Ross Embleton has now said that the O’s are confident that Marsh has the right character and attitude to succeed in his loan spell.

Speaking to Orient’s official website, Embleton said, “I’ve been quoted before saying that any young players we bring in on loan, especially on their first loan experience, it is really important that we get the right character and a player suited to the level of football they are coming in to.

“George and the way he is and the level of intensity in how he works certainly gives him the opportunity to make this a successful loan period for him and make a big impression on us”

Marsh seems to be highly rated by the Spurs coaching staff. However, the 20-year-old has his work cut out if he wants to break into the Tottenham midfielder within the next two years as the club have now strengthened considerably in the position.
