Manager confirms reported Spurs target wants to move to the Premier League

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has confirmed that rumoured Tottenham target Wilfried Zaha is in talks over a return to England, which is why he was left out of the matchday squad for the club’s most recent game.

Wilfried Zaha could return to the Premier League

Zaha has been backed to complete a return to the Premier League, just a year on from swapping Crystal Palace for Galatasaray.

This was reported by HITC a few days ago, with the publication naming Tottenham as one of the clubs interested in offering the winger a route back to England.

It was revealed that Palace also want to take the 31-year-old back to Selhurst Park while Newcastle United and Aston Villa are keeping an eye on the player’s situation as well.

Zaha wants to return to England

Zaha has now seemingly moved one step closer to a return to the Premier League after being left out of the matchday squad for Galatasara’s 2-1 win over Hatayspor on Friday.

When asked about the reason for the Ivory Coast international’s omission, Buruk confessed that it has to do with the player’s rumoured return to England.

The Gala boss told Sporx: “There were transfer talks with Wilfried Zaha recently. He is a player who wants to return to the Premier League.

“The player does not want to risk himself. We talked with him and decided he would not be in the squad.”

I would be surprised if Zaha is on Tottenham’s wishlist as not only does he not fit the age profile that Spurs are likely to go for but he is also not a great fit for Ange’s system, tending to take too many touches on the ball and slowing down attacks.
