Manager confirms starlet has been invited to train with Spurs until end of season

Ramsgate manager Matt Longhurst has confirmed Joshua Ajayi has been offered the chance to train with Tottenham until the end of the season amidst interest in the young forward.

Ajayi has been in stellar form this season having netted 20 goals for the Kent-based outfit (Isthmian).

The Express’ Ryan Taylor reported recently that Spurs have been keeping tabs on the 19-year-old since January and invited him to their training centre having been impressed with his displays this term.

Ramsgate boss Longhurst has since confirmed that the Premier League side have asked Ajayi to continue training with them until the end of the season, when a decision on his future will be made.

He told Kent Online: “It knocked him a bit when he didn’t go anywhere but it was his choice, the right move wasn’t quite on the table.

“We have got a number of clubs watching him every game and Tottenham have offered him the opportunity to train until the end of the season which is great. There could potentially be something on the table at the end of the season.”

Spurs Web Opinion

This could be a good move for Spurs as the lower leagues possess so much talent that hasn’t been identified just yet.

Sometimes it is better to look closer to home on some occasions, even if the players might take more time to develop, and they are likely going to be more budget-friendly options for the development squads too.
