Manager confirms youngster will not sign for Spurs or anyone else this summer

It looks like Tottenham are set to fail with their rumoured pursuit of Arda Guler as Carlo Ancelotti has now confirmed that the attacking midfielder will not be leaving Real Madrid this summer.

Guler has had a difficult first season at the Spanish capital since his high-profile switch from Fenerbahce last summer, with the teenager having struggled for game time.

It was revealed by Ok Diario back in February that Tottenham and Bayer Leverkusen were keeping track of the 19-year-old’s situation and that both clubs had offered to sign the teenager on loan in the summer.

Just weeks later, Super Deporte (via Sport Witness) also backed up the interest of the German and the Premier League sides in the player, adding that AC Milan are also on the Turkey international’s trail.

Relevo subsequently suggested that Madrid could loan out the youngster to get him some first-team minutes under his belt.

Arda Guler will be a Real Madrid player next season

Guler was handed a rare start for Los Blancos against Real Sociedad on Friday and the 19-year-old took his opportunity, netting the only goal of the game.

Speaking after the game, Ancelotti said about the midfielder (via The Express): “Arda is going to be a very important player for us in the future, and there is no doubt that he will stay here next year. He could have played earlier because he’s training so well.

“He is very young, and little by little he will learn what his role is in this team. He has scored more goals than he has played. That’s the gift he has.”

I do not think Guler was ever considered a serious target for Tottenham as the Lilywhites do not do loan deals unless it comes with an option to buy. There was no way Real Madrid would have been willing to add an option to buy in any loan deal for the Turk.
