Manager delivers optimistic update on Troy Parrott

Millwall boss Troy Parrott still has a chance of being fit to take part in their opening Championship fixture this weekend.

The South London outfit host Stoke City in their first league fixture of the campaign on Saturday.

Parrott made the move to the New Den on a season-long loan during the summer and has already been in impressive goalscoring form during pre-season.

After being called up to the Republic of Ireland’s senior squad for the UEFA Nations League double-header against Bulgaria and Finland, he later had to withdraw from Stephen Kenny’s side which robbed him of the opportunity of adding to the single cap he has earned with his country.

Parrott was on the scoresheet in the recent friendly win at Southend and had to come off late in the match (South London Press).

Rowett has revealed that the 18-year-old is making good progress with his quad injury and has not been ruled out of returning this weekend.

“Whether Stoke is a game too soon then we’ll probably know later in the week,” Rowett told the South London Press.
