Tottenham Hotspur may have to abandon their pursuit of Davide Frattesi after his manager’s latest statement about his future at the club.

Tottenham eye Davide Frattesi to strengthen their midfield
A number of midfielders have been linked with a move to Tottenham this transfer window, but over recent days, one man in particular has been repeatedly suggested as a possible option for the Lilywhites.
The player in question is Davide Frattesi, who has struggled to get starts for Inter this season and it has been claimed that Spurs are ready to step up their pursuit of the 25-year-old.
It has even been suggested that Tottenham could put a €32m (£26.8m) offer on the table for Frattesi and blow the competition out of the water.

Simone Inzaghi makes an admission about Davide Frattesi
Inter boss Simone Inzaghi has offered Tottenham and Frattesi‘s other suitors a big blow by stating that the midfielder will remain at the San Siro beyond the end of the current transfer window. He insisted that the former Sassuolo man remains an important part of his plans going forward.
Speaking after Inter’s 1-0 win over Venezia, the Italian coach said (via Roma Press): “I am counting on Davide a lot. There has been a lot of talk but he is fully involved in the project. He works hard, without Mkhitaryan’s injury he would have played from the first minute.
“He must continue like this, he would like more space but he knows there is a lot of competition.” We want to keep and move forward with Frattesi, Marotta has already spoken. He is fully involved in the project, we are happy to have Davide with us.”

What Inzaghi’s statement means for Tottenham
Inzaghi’s statement does not completely rule out a potential sale of Fratessi. Given Inter’s financial situation, every player in their squad has a price and one would imagine that the Serie A club would be tempted to cash in on a fringe player if a suitable offer arrives.
However, Inzaghi’s comments do confirm that there are not any particularly advanced negotiations ongoing for the Italy international at the moment.
That suggests that if Tottenham are planning on signing a midfielder this month, they are likely prioritising other options over Frattesi.
