Manager not expecting rumoured Spurs target to leave in January

Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick has poured cold water on the rumours surrounding Jerome Boateng.

The German central defender was reported to be the subject of a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window (Bleacher Report).

Juventus and North London rivals Arsenal were also credited with an interest in the 31-year-old who has previously played in the Premier League with Manchester City during a brief stint at the start of the last decade.

Spurs have struggled defensively this season and continue to fail to be able to keep a clean sheet in matches.

Boateng has made over 300 appearances for the German giants which includes seven successive Bundesliga titles along with a Champions League crown in 2013.

Flick has played down the speculation suggesting that Boateng’s time at the Allianz Arena is coming to an end during the current transfer window.

Boateng has struggled for game time recently with Bayern having made fifteen appearances in all competitions this season (transfermarkt).

“Jerome is a Bayern player. He has trained well during the winter break,” Flick told The Independent.

“I can’t wait to see what the next few weeks will be like. I’m not worrying if he’ll leave the club or not. I can’t imagine that at the moment.”
