Manager offers concerning update on Sergio Reguilón injury

Tottenham Hotspur will likely be sweating over the fitness of Sergio Reguilón after the defender picked up a knock during Spain’s match against Portugal last night.

The 23-year-old was named in Luis Enrique’s starting eleven for the match in Lisbon which saw both sides play out a 0-0 draw.

Reguilón was replaced at the half time interval after appearing to take a knock in the opening forty-five minutes which left him unable to continue.

The left-back has had an impressive start to life in North London following his switch from Real Madrid having provided an assist on his debut in the Carabao Cup against Chelsea and looked lively in the 6-1 thrashing of Manchester United on Sunday.

Enrique was asked about Reguilón’s fitness after the Iberia derby and admitted that he was concerned.

Tottenham will certainly be hoping that Reguilón’s withdrawal was purely precautionary with the club next in action on Sunday October 18th when we host West Ham United in a London derby.

“It is a blow that the doctors have to see. I hope it doesn’t get complicated,” Enrique told EFE.
